Stone Oven is the BOMB!

One of my new year's resolution is to start bringing my own lunch to work. I was doing really well until Stone Oven, a gourmet sandwich and salad place opened near by. I've never heard of this place before, but I found out for myself that they make the best chicken sandwich and chicken salad I've ever tasted in my life. Yeah, yeah I always say that with everything I eat, but seriously, this one is legit. You just have to try it for yourself.

I bought my lunch here 2 days in a row, and I need to stop before I get addicted. Their food is so good. It's fresh, and they make it in front of you. I can honestly eat here every single day.

The first time, I got their Garlic and Basil Chicken Sandwich. Thin sliced grilled chicken breast with tomatoes, lettuce, red onions, garlic and basil mayo in a freshly made foccacia bread. They make the bread right in front of you.

I've ate plenty of sandwiches in my life, and this is hands down the best I've tried. All the stuff in it are familiar flavors, but I think what got me the most was the fresh bread. There's nothing like fresh bread in your sandwich. The foccacia was a little toasted on the outside and oh soooo soft on the inside. I even saw steam came out of the bread when the man cut it in half. Omaaagggaahh!

For the side, you can choose between pasta salad, potato salad or garden salad. I had the garden salad with their homemade dressing, and it was really good.

The second time, I got the Walnut and Green Apple salad with Champagne Vinaigrette with a side of fresh Foccacia bread.. Mixed Greens, thinly sliced grilled chicken, candied walnuts, blue cheese and balsamic glazed. Once again, the bread was amazing! I ended up making my own sandwich, stuffing the bread with everything.

Have you ever been to Stone Oven? If not, then you really should.

Spam for Dinner

My nieces, nephew and I devoured these spam sandwiches for dinner last night. Ooops..sorry! I forgot to take a photo of the sandwiches. By the time I remember to take a photo, it was all gone lol.

I thinly sliced it, and fried it in butter until a crispy coating formed on the outside. Then, I put it between sweet pan dulce for that perfect sweet and salty sandwich...or more like sodium sandwich because spam is so salty.^_^ But I still like it!

What about you? Do you eat Spam?

Homemade Flan made our night.

My friend Karina invited me and some of my friends to her roommate's (Lupe) birthday dinner on Friday. The weather was pretty bad, and it's been raining on and off, but guess what? That didn't stop us from going. Usually, I would stay in on a Friday night to watch my Ghost Adventures on Travel channel.. Yeah, I love that show lol. But I was more excited to go out. I haven't seen my friends in awhile, and I just wanted to hangout and have a chill time.

Well, I'm so glad we went because the dinner turned out to be awesome and super fun! There was real food, really good food I might say, music and everyone was super nice. It was funny because we didn't know anyone but my friend Kari, but everyone was so chill that they made us feel comfortable right away.

Lupe, the birthday girl cooked some bomb-ass Mexican food. Oh man, you know it's not a legit party without food. She made everything from the Birria, Mexican Rice to the flan. Yes, she made a huge flan, and it was ohhh soooo gooood!

Here's what we had...

Brie Cheese and Crackers. These were on the table in the living room for people to munch on. I haven't had Brie in forever, so I enjoyed this one a lot.

Homemade Hummus with Pita Chips. You can't go wrong with homemade hummus..come on!

Lupe made this Beef Birria, which is a spicy braised beef. I got pretty excited when I saw it. Yes, meat at a party!

Mexican Rice

This was my plate. Pretty huh? I wanted to go for seconds, but I felt a bit shy hehe...

Monica's plate.

Tres Leches cake. I actually didn't get to taste this O_o

Lupe's homemade flan. Our eyes popped out when she took it out of the fridge. It definitely made our night!

Thank you so much to my friend, Kari for inviting us to Lupe's birthday. Lupe, you are the sweetest and thank you to a warm welcome. It was really nice to meet you. I love you for making all those delicious food. See you on facebook hehe..

Mac Rib is back!!! (late post)

This is an old post that I forgot to publish lol. Enjoy!

Have you read the book "Fast Food Nation"? It's a book that exposes the nasty truth behind fast food chains. Where do they really get their meat? Why is fast food so cheap? I read it back in college in an English class. I remember, it used to make my stomach turn every time I read a page. They went into too much detail about the nasty stuff they put in burgers, chicken nuggets and etc just so they can make it look like real food. But this post is not about the book. I just want to point out that after reading it, it didn't really change my perception on fast food. My college roommates and I lived on dollar spicy chicken sandwiches and crispy fake tacos from Jack in the Box and this was while I was reading the book HA!

I know it's nasty, gross and I even call it fake food... but guess what? I crave it. I crave it a lot and therefore I will eat it, especially when I'm mad craving it...wait I said that already lol. And McDonalds or MickeyD's as my friends and I call it, is my favorite fast food restaurant ever! They have the best french fries that you have to eat right away because they taste like paper when cold. Their Big Mac makes me puke, literally right after eating it, but I still like it so I only eat it once a year..on my birthday!!! Their McGriddles sandwiches are the best breakfast sandwich ever made. 2 pancakes with syrup dots sandwiching liquid eggs, salty who knows where it came from sausage and it's best eaten with their sugary ketchup! Man, sounds like a diabetes sandwich, but it's dang good!

Anyway, Mc Donalds recently brought back the McRib, which is a bbq pork rib sandwich. It's only for a limited time so I decided to try it out. It's my first time and I have nothing but high hopes. It better taste like real pork bbq right? And you know what...it does! No joke. The meat tasted like real meat and that's all I cared about.

It's a pork meat patty made to look like pork ribs, but it's boneless...weird!

It was pretty tasty and it did taste like pork so I couldn't complain. I just wished it had more BBQ sauce because it was a bit dry. But other than that, it was great! ^_^ Will I eat it again? Heck yeah!

..and this is my big boy nephew Momo eating his chicken nuggets and french fries from Mickey D's. He is lovin' it..assssuuus!!

What's your favorite fast food?

Togo's Turkey and Avocado sandwich

In the past, I've blogged about how turkey and avocado sandwich is one my favorite comfort food. It's what I crave the most when I'm feeling a little low. I love how it's light and refreshing and it makes me feel really good.

One day after work, I was craving a really good turkey and avocado sandwich. I wasn't feeling sad or anything, I just wanted one. I passed by a small plaza on Wilshire and Normandie (Koretown) when I saw a big poster of a turkey and avocado sandwich posted on Togo's windows. OMG it was a sign from above and I must get it lol. Oh and if you don't know, Togo's is a sandwich fast food restaurant here in California. It's in the same category of Subway and Quiznos but they claim they're better lol.

I got a 6 inch turkey and avocado sandwich in honey wheat bread with everything in it...turkey, avocado, tomatoes, shredded lettuce, red onions, pickles, banana peppers, mayo and mustard.

This is my first time eating at Togo's and I was really impressed. First, the honey wheat bread was really good. It was soft and had a little sweetness to it. And second, they were generous with the meat and avocado..omg thank you! It had chunks of avocado in every bite and it was the best thing ever! I wish I could fully stress the utter feeling I get when I eat something really good. Kiko says, I make noises when I eat and I mute my surroundings, that includes him haha and my only focus is  my food ^_^.

What's your favorite at Togo's?
