Baby Kos' Birthday @ Sushi Delight!

Kiko had his birthday last month, and I asked him what he wanted and he said, "No Disney Land!" LMAO! It's actually a funny story. Last year, I took him to Disney Land for his birthday. He's never been there and come on, it's the happiest place on earth so for sure he would love it, right? The whole time he acted like he was having fun but at the end of the day, he told me he hated it...well some of it. He didn't like the long lines and some people had no sense of space and kept bumping into us. However, he did like seeing the different characters, watching the shows and seeing my face glow in the Tiki room lol. I'm sorry Kiko, but I couldn't help but laugh whenever I think about it. We've been together for so long and you would think I know these things already and try to avoid it as much as possible on his special day, but nooo... I'm such a terrible girlfriend. But Kiko was still sweet and patient and didn't show any sign of annoyance and frustration ^_^

This year, I planned a birthday surprise with the help of his older brother (it will be in my next post). I told Kiko we were just gonna have the usual bbq at his brother's house for his birthday, but he didn't know we're gonna have lots of balloons, chocolate cake and all kinds of shrimp dishes because he loves shrimp.

I took him to a really good sushi place called Sushi Delight located in Lomita, Ca for his pre-birthday celebration. It was recommended by an old co-worker, and he swore it was the best sushi place ever, so hey, why not! Well, I'm glad I took his recommendation because we had the best sushi we've had in a long time. Everything we had was amazing!

FIRST IMPRESSION and AMBIANCE
From the outside, the place looked like a dark liquor store. But when we went in, the place was actually pretty nice. It was small and cozy. They had a sushi bar, 3 booths and several tables in the middle. The place probably seated less than 50 people. They had dim lighting, which I liked a lot. It gave a very relaxing ambiance.

MENU and PRICE
I love menu with photos. It really helped me decide on what to order since I knew what the food looked like. They had a great selection of the usual sushi, sashimi and specialty sushi rolls. They also had bento boxes and sushi combos. The prices were reasonable. It ranged from $8.99-$12.99 for the rolls and the sushi combos was less than $17.99.

SERVICE
The service was awesome. All their staff was very friendly, especially the girls. They were always smiling. Our server was a dude and he was on top of things. He let us took our time to look at the menu and decide. Also, we never ran out of water in our glasses ^_^

FOOD
Sushi Delight was wonderful. I think it's our new sushi joint from now on. Everything we ordered was excellent. The sushi was fresh, and the portion was huge. It was definitely bigger than what we are used to.

They offer a sushi roll eating challenge. Maybe next time? naaahhh lol.

We got complimentary miso soup and house salad. Miso soup was hot and warmed our bellies as we waited for our food. The house salad was sweet and tangy from the mayo based dressing. Kiko said it was too sweet for his liking but I liked it a lot!

First order was a combo of Eel Avocado roll with 7 pieces of sushi $17.99 ( i think!) This was a bad picture of the plate but I'm telling you the portion was huge. Eel and Avocado roll is one of my favorites and it never disappoint. It's a California roll topped with creamy Avocado and Eel covered in a gloppy sugary brown sauce...Yum!

Tempura California Roll $8.99. It was deep fried California roll in a tempura batter drizzled in their special sauce. Kiko and I never had hot sushi roll before so this was something new. We enjoyed it very much. It was rich and a bit heavy in the tummy and really filling. Again, the portion was huge...a bit shocking but hey were not complaining.

Wasabi and Pickled Ginger

Tiger roll $9.99. Shrimp, crab and cucumber roll topped with shrimp, avocado and unagi sauce on top.We were already full and we pretty much forced our selves to eat this lol. Again, the portion was huuuge!

Overall, it was a fun and belly filling experience. We were pleased with the service, and the food was excellent. We really couldn't think of anything bad to say about it. In fact, I recommend this place to anyone who's in the look out for a really good and affordable sushi joint. We will definitely go back again. Thank you Sushi Delight for making Kiko's birthday so awesome!

My husband loves sushi too! :) This is too far from us though. Kiko looks like he had a blast!

I'm allergic to seafood so I can't enjoy it like most people do. :s I would still go there just for kicks though.

Happy Holidays! aaand... I just to happen to be a Disneyland virgin and I've been pondering over going there on my birthday. :))
